Campaigns

Overview

A campaign is a targeted messaging effort designed to engage a specific audience segment. You can send messages via any channel supported within the platform, such as email and SMS. Campaigns allow you to send tailored messages on a schedule of your choosing to drive engagement and user action.

Campaign States

Campaigns can be in one of the following states:

  • Draft: Campaign is being configured and has not been launched
  • Active: Campaign is running and sending messages
  • Paused: Campaign is temporarily suspended (can be resumed)
  • Completed: Campaign has finished running
  • Cancelled: Campaign has been permanently stopped

Managing Active Campaigns

Pausing a Campaign

You can temporarily suspend an active campaign when needed:

  1. Navigate to the campaign details page
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top right corner
  3. Select "Pause Campaign"
  4. Confirm the action in the dialog

Note: When paused, all campaign activities are frozen and recipients remain at their current step in the journey.

Resuming a Campaign

To reactivate a paused campaign:

  1. Navigate to the paused campaign
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
  3. Select "Resume Campaign"
  4. Confirm the action

Important: AWS Pinpoint requires a minimum 5-minute wait between pausing and resuming a campaign.

Creating a Campaign

To create a campaign, navigate to the Campaigns tab in the console and select the Create New Campaign button.

Segment Selection

Choose the segment of users that the campaign will target. You can use existing segments created in the Segments page or define a new segment as you create the campaign.
